I’m moving to my new website: www.worldbyjan.com

As you might know there are few times of day landscape photographers like to shoot. The best lighting conditions you get during dawn or dusk. These are the times you want to get out and shoot. Just be sure to be there before sunrise or sunset. You’ll have enough time to find a perfect spot, set everything up and than just  wait for light to do it’s magic.

A friend of mine Miroslav Petrasko stopped in Prague on his way back from a trip he took on a boat and we went out shooting sunset and sunrise. Miroslav picked our location at Prasna Brana, a tower located on Old Town. What we didn’t know is there is an armory in the tower itself so I also made a shot of it and it looks interesting. Basically the tower is a museum and nice viewpoint. You can see a huge part of Prague, if you are interested in monuments this is one of the places you should check out. The view from there is fantastic. Here is one of the images I took.

Technical Stuff:
Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Lens: Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 @85mm
Aperture: f/8
Shutter Speed: 3.2s
ISO: 100
WB: Temp 3550/Tint +4
Processing: Lightroom

… And this photo demonstrates it. We were on a hunt for some great pictures with Miroslav on st. Mikulas’s church. Trying to find some different angle, a better photo we have to do stuff like this … And we do it a lot to be honest.

But after some time you’ll get used to it and take it as a fact. Anyway, here is one HDR shot from the top of the church.

The second day with Miroslav went really well from start to end. After we met our path went to John Lennon’s Wall in Prague. I made a portrait shoot there but that is for a different post. Near it I took one of my all time favorite shots and several others. One of them is this one with locks. It’s a very popular place so if you’ll be in Prague, check it out.

It looks like Prague is becoming the meeting center for a lot of #photographers around the world. Last weekend it was visited by +Elia Locardi and +Miroslav Petrasko (which I had shoot with).

This photo was taken from Zizkovsky broadcast tower. Took a lot of patience and luck as it is with all landscapes photographers. The tower itself is in reconstruction and it’s observatory was so dirty. Dust everywhere, two pieces of thick, dirty and scratched glass you have to shoot through. Do you know what is the worst part? Light was just happening! The sunset was so awesome, beautiful clouds beautiful view but not good conditions to shoot in.

Anyway we found out some ways how to get good photos out of it and it worked in some situations. I’ll post more photos from this walk soon.

Prague Castle

Miroslav Petrasko is great HDR photographer from Slovakia, you can check his work right here, and was visiting Prague. We managed to do a photowalk together and captured some really nice images. We started out at Railroad bridge but unfortunately I got card error and all my images from the beginning of walk are gone 😦 I was upset because one of the finest photos were there …

Anyway, we were shooting sunset above Prague from Žižkovsky transmitter. Too bad there was a reconstruction and everything was dirty including glass we were shooting through. Here is one of the better images I took.
